NOMINATIONS APPLICATION NOTICE

The Nominations Committee in accordance with Sections 47, 73 and 79 of the Bahamas Co- operative Credit Unions Act, 2015, hereby announce that applications can now be submitted for nomination at the 47th Annual General Meeting. Members in good standing are invited to apply for the following posts:

❖ BOARD DIRECTORS (3-SEATS)
❖ SUPERVISORY COMMITTEE (1-SEAT)
❖ CREDIT COMMITTEE (1-SEAT)
❖ NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE (3-SEATS)

CRITERIA

❖ Must be a member of the Credit Union 18 years of age or older.
❖ Must be qualified or experienced in matters relating to accounts, finance, business administration, commerce, or law.
❖ Must not have been convicted of an offence that is punishable on indictment in The Bahamas, or in another country or an offence involving dishonesty.
❖ Must not be a professional Advisor who provides services to the Co-operative Credit Union or in his/her professional capacity has provided such services in twelve months preceding the date on which they may be elected.
❖ Must not be ninety days or more in arrears of his debt obligation to the Co-operative Credit Union.
❖ Must not be an undischarged bankrupt.
❖ Must not have been suspended, removed, or prohibited from acting as a Director of a: -
* Financial institution by a domestic regulatory authority; or
* Foreign financial institution by a foreign regulatory authority. Does not meet the requirements prescribed in the bye-laws.
* Does not meet the requirements prescribed in the bye-laws.

The Bahamas Cooperative Act 2015 (Section 19) Fit & Proper Criteria

Pursuant to the Act, the Central Bank shall, in determining whether a person is or remains a fit and proper person, have regard to all the circumstances, including –

a. that person’s integrity, probity, competence, and soundness of judgement for fulfilling the responsibilities of that position;
b. the diligence with which that person is fulfilling or is likely to fulfil the responsibilities of that position;
c. whether the interest of the co-operative credit union is likely to be threatened by that person holding that position;
d. whether that person has engaged in any activity or business practices which would discredit that person’s method of conducting business; and
e. whether there has been impropriety in handling an employers’ business.

Certificates/Qualifications, Employment History and Credit Union Training/Experience must be on/before the close of business on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.

MEMBERS ARE ALSO REMINDED THAT ALL RESOLUTIONS FOR THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING'S CONSIDERATION MUST BE SUBMITTED BY FRIDAY, APRIL 26, 2024.
